Cold, Hard Cache: Insomniac's Cache Simulator

Overview:

Leveraging the CPU cache well is hard, and it's even harder to see what you're doing wrong when using off the shelf profiling tools. In this session, Andreas will describe Insomniac Games' Cache Simulator, an in-house tool developed to gain additional insights into cache performance and utilization of arbitrary CPU code. The tool runs on Windows and simulates the CPU infrastructure of Jaguar CPUs by single-stepping instructions in a non-intrusive on-demand fashion when requested.
